Using the Google Adsense Program

Using the Google Adsense Program is a fun and easy way to make extra money. It’s important to follow the rules though as Google is serious about the integrity of this program.  Not following the rules could result in your Google Adsense account being terminated. So here are a few things you must NOT do when using the Google Adsense Program:


Never, ever, ever click on your own ads
.  Google Adsense makes it very clear this won’t be tolerated.


Don’t ask your friends and family to click on your ads.  Rather, earn money by referring them to the Google Adsense program.

Don’t participate in the Google Adsense program strictly for the money
. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It will take time and hard work to make a profit.

Don’t worry if you don’t understand everything the first day
.  Although the Google Adsense program is extremely user-friendly, it may take a little time to integrate all the facets of the program.  Be patient and above all, have fun!


Hopefully, these tips will ease you into using the program and help you avoid mistakes that could possibly cost you a lot of time or money.

Promoting with emails and message boards are popular advertising strategies. There is a fine line between advertising and spam and unfortunately many business owners do not understand the difference between the two.


Email Campaigns

Email campaigns are also very useful tools in Internet marketing. These campaigns may involve sending periodic e-newsletters filled with information as well as advertisements, short informative email courses or emails offering discounts on products and services. Loyal customers who opt into your email list will likely not view these emails as spam and may purchase additional products and services from your business as a result of this marketing strategy. Additionally, potential customers who have specifically requested additional information on your products and services will also find this type of marketing useful.


However, email recipients who did not request information are likely to view your emails as spam. Harvesting email addresses in a deceptive manner and using these addresses to send out mass emails will likely always be considered to be spam.


Message boards

Finally, message boards provide an excellent opportunity for business owners to obtain some free advertising where it will be noticed by members of the target audience. If the products and services you offer appeal to a specific niche, it is worthwhile to join message boards and online forums related to your industry of choice. Here you will find a large population of Internet users who may have an interest in your products. You might consider including a link to your business in your signature or posting the link when it is applicable to the thread (conversation). Carefully review the message board guidelines to ensure you are in compliance. This technique is smart marketing. Replying to every message with a link to your website when it is not relevant to the conversation is likely to be construed as spam by other members. Once they begin to view your posts as spam, they are not likely to visit your website via any links you post.


Promoting with emails and message boards is good marketing strategy as long as you are advertising and not spamming.

Optimal Length For Your Article Marketing

When choosing an article for your website, make sure that it is the Optimal Length For Your Article Marketing; a length that is optimal for search engine optimization. Your articles should be about 250-500 words. Even if search engine optimization is not your goal, it’s still a good idea to keep your articles within this range for your readers. If your article is any longer, they probably will not stay on your page to finish reading it.


If they leave your page, they end up with only half of the information you’ve written for them and are left with the impression that your site is too “wordy.” Most internet readers don’t read a website page as they would a book, so the shorter the better. If your article is longer than 500 words, you can split it into several pages. Then label the pages so that the reader can pick and choose which part they want to read or so that they know what is coming up next to help them determine if they want to continue.


When writing your article, be sure to proof read it from a site visitor’s point of view before you publish it. Sometimes you can shorten an article by combining certain topics and ideas using headings, subtitles and bullet points. Then, if you choose to do so, those headings can be used as your keywords for search engine optimization.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is a branch of Internet marketing where the advertisement publisher gets paid for every customer or sale provided by him.

Affiliate marketing is the basis for all other Internet marketing strategies.

In affiliate marketing, affiliate management companies, in-house affiliate managers and third party vendors are effectively utilized for E-mail Marketing and Search Engine Marketing for the success of the product.

Web traffic can be traced with the help of a third party or owners of the affiliate programs.

Originally, affiliate marketing involved lots of spamming, false advertising, trademark infringement, etc.

Since the invention of complex algorithms and advanced security, it’s safer to do business and shopping online. This even led to better scrutinizing of terms and conditions by the merchants.

As affiliate marketing opened up more opportunities, it also increased marketing competition.

Due to this pressure in-house affiliate programs for merchants were replaced by out-sourced programs. The companies that offer this service have expert affiliate marketing and network program managers who have various affiliate program management techniques.

These affiliate networks have publishers associated with them who help with the advertising.

Affiliate marketing was started by who had music oriented websites. They placed a list of music albums on their site and paid others to put those links in their websites when a visitor bought an album through their site. The first company to link with was Geffen Records.

Two months later, a woman proposed an offer to Amazon to sell their books on her website for a certain percentage. They liked the idea and started the Amazon Associates Program. It was more of a commission program where they received a commission if a visitor clicked their links and banners on other’s sites and bought something.

Since its inception, the affiliate network has been adopted by various businesses like travel, education, telecom, mobile, gaming, personal finance, retail, and subscription sites.

The compensation methods used are Cost per sale (CPS), Cost per action (CPA), Cost per mile (CPM) and Cost per click (CPC).

The first two are the main methods used today. This is because in CPM and CPC, the visitor that turns up on a particular website might not be the targeted audience and a click would be enough to generate a commission.

CPS and CPA require that the visitor not only click on the link but also buy something or sign up for some service, which proves that the visitor is in a targeted audience. Only then does the affiliate get paid.

So the affiliate should try to send as much targeted traffic as possible to the advertiser to increase his/her returns. For this reason, affiliate marketing is also known as performance marketing. It totally depends upon the performance of the affiliate.

The affiliate team can be differentiated from a sales team by the nature of their jobs. The job of the affiliate team is to get targeted traffic to a point, then the sales team must influence the visitor to buy the product or service.

This is a very effective method because the money is being paid only when results have been achieved. The publisher incurs all the cost except that of initial setup and development of the program, which is incurred by the merchant.
