Myths of Content Marketing
by Rahimah Sultan
There are some myths floating around about content marketing. Jeff Bullas discusses seven of them in 7 Big Myths of Content Marketing.
“Content marketing has become an art and a science.” It involves telling stories with a bit of marketing added. Engagement with prospective customers is a must. The creation of content alone will not attract opportunities and produce business changing marketing strategies.
Content marketing is not just about search engines. You need to write for humans. It is many moving parts that include images, videos, blog posts, many social networks, multiple media, metrics, optimization, email, search and more.
The article points out that many bloggers (and content marketers) have fallen into the trap of only giving away free content. They forget to ask for something in return. They think that conversion from traffic to leads and sales will happen on its own.
“Want something for free like a free PDF then I need an email in return. Want to read that ebook. That will be $7 thank you. Want some premium resources and maybe online training then the credit card needs some loving.”
Great content marketing achieves 3 goals: Traffic, engagement and conversion.

Three Tips for Business Success
by Rahimah Sultan
When I was nine years old my goal was to become a doctor. That meant
graduating from high school and attending college. I had to formulate a plan
that would enable me to achieve this.
In elementary school things were already decided for you as far as course
selection. In junior high, now called middle school, you had a more flexible
curriculum depending on the path you wanted to follow. It was then that the
thought of becoming a doctor solidified for me, and I used counselors’
recommendations and my own research to determine the classes I needed and when
to take them.
I hope the following three tips for business success are of use to you as an
entrepreneur as you plan and pursue your vision.
1. Keep focused on the main goal
Have a clear vision of your main goal. Although you may veer off course from
time to time, your big vision is always the focus. Sometimes challenges arise
and plans must be changed. Remaining focused on your ultimate goal will enable
you to make the needed changes to keep you moving forward.
2. Persevere
Sometimes you will face uneasiness and fear of the next steps to take. You
will need perseverance to keep moving forward and to stay on track. While in
school I faced a lot of major challenges and had to delay my college education.
I held on to my vision and eventually circumstances were such that I could
attend college. That was much later in my adult life and I focused on
“plan B” and received my college degree. Although I did not become a
doctor, I pursued something I was truly passionate about. You will also need
passion to succeed.
3. Be flexible
You need to formulate a basic plan that allows for changes. Sometimes large
changes to the plan will be necessary. You also need a marketing outline for
promoting your business. Decide which avenues and platforms you will use and
what your budget will look like.
These are Three Tips for Business Success to consider if you
are an entrepreneur or plan to be one and have decided the path you want to
follow.

3 Tips for Structuring Emails
by Rahimah Sultan
I am sure you know the saying, “The devil in the detail.” When people say the devil in the detail they mean that small things in plans and schemes that are often overlooked can cause serious problems later on. When using email marketing you must pay attention to detail. These three tips for structuring emails can help you do that.
The term is usually used to refer to sending email messages with the intent of acquiring new customers, encouraging customer loyalty and repeat business, retaining customers, and winning back former customers. When you use email marketing for advertising it needs to look professional.
1) Use Eye-Catching Subject Lines
Subject lines should catch the attention of the reader. Think of something that would make you want to open an email. If you think you cannot come up with attention- grabbing subjects just look at others, that you come across online, for ideas.
2) No Misleading Subjects
Be creative without using misleading subject lines. The subject should always be related to what is in the body of the email. As you want to preserve your online integrity, do not try to trick people.
3) Avoid Spam Triggers
Avoid spam triggers in your subjects and in the body of your emails such as the overuse of the word free and the use of symbols (Fr*e or FR33) to disguise spammy words that will land your email in junk mail and spam folders. Spam filters look at your email as a whole. There are quite a few spam-checking tools available for checking emails before you send them.
When composing your emails use proper grammar rules, great subject lines that are not misleading, and avoid spam triggers. These 3 Tips for Structuring Emails can help you get started with your email campaign.
