Internet Marketing Measuring for Business

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

Google’s Matt Cutts, in discussing Google’s Internet Marketing Measuring for Business regarding guest posting, states that Google is geared towards recognizing utility. If Google doesn’t recognize utility, then Google will become weaker and someone else will take their place. Only a few people remember Alta Vista. They didn’t provide much in the way of utility….

He then goes on to discuss the importance of measurement.

Measuring What Is Important

Matt Cutts says that a publishing strategy based on Google ranking is not a strategy but a tactic and it’s not a good tactic. He goes on to say that if interesting material is provided, people will read it and they might return if more interesting information is provided. This is creating engagement. That combined activity plays into ranking. Success depends on achieving the underlying business goal.

Some common things that are measured are Page views, Subscriptions, Comments, Quality of comments, Syndication, Time on site, Videos watched, Unique visitors, Traffic sent to partner sites, and much more.

How Do We Know If We’re Interesting?

“There are a couple of different types of measurement marketers use. One is an emotional response, where the visitor becomes “positively interested”. This is measured by recall studies, association techniques, customers surveys and questionnaires. However, the type of response on-line marketers focus on, which is somewhat easier to measure, is behavioural interest. When people are really interested, they do something in response.”

Focused Internet Marketing

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

Focused Internet Marketing is simply remaining focused on what you’re doing whether it’s sending out Ads, writing an article, building a website or whatever. When writing an article for your blog you finish much quicker if you keep your focus. Having a routine is helpful. One of the things to consider is managing your energy. You’ll do your best “thinking” work when you have the most energy.

I read an article that lays out eight effective strategies to this end that include:

* Managing your energy not your time
* Preparing the night before
* Not opening email until noon
* Turning your phone off and leaving it in another room, and more.

The author references a report from the World Health Organization regarding life expectancy which turns out to be 24,820 days and he states “Once I realized this, I started thinking about how I could develop a better morning routine. I still have a lot to learn, but here are some strategies that you can use to get the most out of your 25,000 mornings.” He also says “What you do each morning is an indicator of how you approach your entire day.”

Do consider these tips for your Focused Internet Marketing.

Optimizing Your Squeeze Page in Your Ezine Articles

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

I just found some great information on optimizing your squeeze page in your ezine articles.

Squeeze pages are landing pages that are set up to get your visitors to give you their information so that you can build your list of prospective customers. They ask visitors to subscribe to whatever product or service you’re offering such as newsletters, videos, consulting, among other things. They are more than an opt-in box on your site, since there is usually only one choice.

The article shows you how you can build a list of highly qualified leads using your articles to do so. It details things to consider before linking to your squeeze page in the ezine articles.

If you’re including a link to your website, is it relevant, easy to navigate, transparent, is the material compelling, and is there balance. If so go ahead and link to your blog or website and your squeeze page in the Resource Box of your article submission.

If you’re not planning to include a link to your blog or website, you need to consider other things and then link to your squeeze page in the Resource Box of your article submission. Here’s a great flow chart to help.

6 Advertising Tips

by Rahimah Sultan

There are many options available for advertising your business. Six advertising tips are listed here that could be the best way to reach larger audiences within a short period of time for the least amount of money.

Create a website

You can create a website and then place a link to it on other sources that accept ads.

You can optimize your pages and submit them to search engines. Some take money for placing an ad or link on their website, some take money only if a visitor clicks on the link or website and some take money only if the visitor visits a link and buys a product or service. There are many options available for the type of ad to be placed. These include pop-up ads, banner ads, wallpaper ads, video ads, etc. A low-budget option is sending emails to targeted customers.

Presentations of your products

Another way to advertise is giving presentations for your products. Brochures and business cards can be inserted into the business presentation package. Be sure to have accurately designed business cards that include all the vital information about the business like the name of the company, location, services provided, hours, phone number, cell number and contact person. Personalized business cards are a good way to reach customers.

Distribute newsletters with information about your latest offers and discounts. Informational letters of a page length and e-mails can also be sent on a regular basis.

All of this can be accomplished a lot easier by contacting companies who can provide the mailing list of a particular locality, for a small price. You can check the yellow pages for such companies. After getting the information get in touch with the company to get a copy of the latest mailing list. The fees differ from company to company.

Yellow pages

All businesses both large and small place ads in the yellow pages and have benefited. When you place the ad you should include your contact information and products and services.

Radio and TV stations

Radio and TV stations offer better prices during non-peak times, especially after midnight. Check with your local stations for pricing, time slots and discounts.

Newspapers

One can always use newspapers for advertising. First decide on your target audience – age group, sex, and location. Then choose the local newspaper and section where the ad will be placed depending on the audience to be targeted. The classified section of newspapers has special offers. Check the details of the pricing structure for the size of the advertisements, number of words, font size, etc.

Word of mouth

Last but not least, there’s always word of mouth. You can grow your network by joining organizations that deal with advertising like trade associations and chambers of commerce. Active participation in events of these organizations eventually helps you to reach a larger number of prospective clients.

Affiliate Link URL Masking

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

What is Affiliate Link URL Masking?

If you are an affiliate marketer you have links that look like the following examples.
1) http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Wireless-Reading-Display-Globa lly/dp/B003FSUDM4/ref=amb_link_353259562_2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIK X0DER&pf_rd_s=center-10&pf_rd_r=11EYKTN682A79T370AM3&pf_rd_ …

2) http://secure.hostgator.com/~affiliat/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=bcdefg

3) http://www.safelisttactics.com/?rid=118???

These links could and should be masked with shortened links like the following.

1) http://tinyurl.com/Kindle

2) http://tinyurl.com/6u9d26e

3) http://tinyurl.com/safelists-mktgg

Although there are numerous programs available, these are examples using tinyurl.com

Reasons for Link Masking

As with the first two examples above, sometimes your domain is too long and complicated to spell and/or write. Or you may be using free hosting that does not give you a dedicated domain but just a subdirectory of their domain. Using a shorter, more understandable and eye pleasing link will add a big boost to your online marketing.

Another big reason to mask affiliate links is to keep people from stealing your money. Anyone who is actively promoting other people’s products and/or services as an affiliate could be losing money from hard earned commissions because of those UGLY long affiliate URLs that target you as an affiliate, and scare away your visitors and/or potential customers.

Affiliate link masking sounds pretty obvious. All you’re doing is replacing that UGLY long affiliate URL with a nice cloaked (forwarded inside an invisible frame), professional domain name like the short ones listed in the above examples, that remain sticky.

Sticky simply means that the URL remains the domain name you chose, once your visitor has clicked on it, and it doesn’t redirect back to the UGLY long affiliate URL you started with. This makes you, the affiliate, look professional in the eyes of your visitors and/or potential customers. They don’t know if you are an affiliate or the actual web site owner. A web site’s stickiness is important to online advertisers because the longer visitors stay on the site the more exposure they have to potential advertising.

And lastly, people just don’t like to click on strange looking long links.

How does URL Masking work?

In case of URL Masking the Domain Forwarding server sends the client a Frames page where the Frame Source contains the destination URL you have specified. This ensures that the URL in the address bar of the browser does not change when the client sees the destination page.

As Web surfers become more knowledgeable of how affiliate programs work, more people will omit your affiliate ID or use someone else’s ID when ordering. Either way, you may lose commissions you’re supposed to get. Using full window frame page is probably the most effective (though not perfect) way to prevent such loss. In fact, practically all affiliate link cloaking software uses this method. The address bar won’t display your affiliate URL unless the affiliate site has a frame breaker (e.g.: Gmail). If visitors book mark the site, they will come back to your frame page. This means they use YOUR affiliate ID every time, and this could translate into sales.

Although masking your URL address can be very effective for marketing, in some cases it’s not necessary and disturbs the normal navigation of the user. So be sure to use URL masking only when it’s really necessary, and help convert more of your visitors into SALES!

There are many services online that offer this. Simply go to Google and do a search.

If you are a serious Affiliate Marketer and/or are just starting out online with affiliate programs then this is something you’ll definitely want to look into. Not only will you look professional in the eyes of your visitors and/or potential customers you’ll also be safe guarding your hard earned affiliate commissions with affiliate link URL masking. When visitors come to your site, the link is their first impression, and first impressions matter, especially when doing business online.

One of the Best Ways to Make Money Online

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

Blogging is one of the best ways to make money online. Blogs are a very popular way of promoting your products and services. They are easy to install, easy to administer, easy to update, and search engines love them. Here are three ways to boost traffic to your blog and start making money online.

1) Update your content regularly

Search engines and blog services love regular updates. It’s very likely that you will get targeted traffic from search engines if you post regularly. I average an article a week. There are pros and cons for this. Some say daily and others say less often is better. It’s really dependent upon your content and your readers. If you’re a beginner you might post less as you may not have the good quality content that long time bloggers have or you don’t want to suffer burn out.

2) Post in forums

You can post in in forums, but don’t spam them. Post something fresh and interesting and put a link to your blog in your signature. Don’t just post in any forum. For example if you’re selling something to do with music, don’t post in forums that have nothing to do with music. Be sure to abide by the guidelines of each forum you use. Forum posting provides valuable one-way links to you that are good for search engine position in Google, Yahoo and Bing.

3) Submit to blog search engines

There are masses of search engines available, that list only blogs. Just do a Google search and you’ll find plenty. These blog search engines will help you with targeted traffic. Be sure to write a good title and a good description for your article so people will easily find it and click on your link.

If you just follow these three steps you’ll start seeing lots of traffic to your blog. Don’t forget to update your blog with fresh unused content that you write yourself. And remember that having a blog is one of the best ways to make money online.

For a step by step guide that reveals how in the next couple
of hours you could be enjoying more traffic and more profits
from video, even if you don’t own a video camera…

Get Paid To Publish A Newsletter Online

photo from blog

Making money online is a matter of finding an audience who you can either advertise to or receive direct payment from. Either way, you need something interesting or informative with which to catch and hold your readers’ attention. Your content is everything. You can get paid to publish a newsletter online containing your information.

I’ll show you how you can make money presenting and distributing content via a newsletter and how you can connect directly with your audience.

How To Get Paid To Publish A Newsletter Online

First you will need to take care of some technical details.

Newsletter Distribution

The best way to distribute newsletters is through an autoresponder list service. These can be set up to automatically deliver pre-written emails to subscribers at set intervals. Each new subscriber will receive all of the emails in a predetermined sequence. That means you can load up a year’s worth of content (or more), and it will automatically publish straight to your subscribers’ email boxes without you touching it again!

There are many autoresponders to choose from. A free autoresponder can be downloaded from responders.com, but you can get a more professional program from aweber.com. These programs will also help with managing your subscriber list, so you stay spam compliant.

GVO’s hostthenprofit.com is a full service system. You can host your websites, set up a meeting room, plus all the things a simple autoresponder does and for far less money per month than aweber and some others.

To get paid to publish a newsletter online it needs to be attractive, easy to read, and compatible with different computers and internet browsers. You can create beautiful PDF documents using free programs.

Content

You don’t have to create all your own content. You can get free stock photos and articles from sites such as publicdomainimages.net and ezinearticles.com. You can also pay for pre-written content from sites like associatedcontent.com.

Email newsletters are perfect for marketing your own products

If you are running an online business an email newsletter would be perfect for marketing your own products. You could also make money by selling space to advertisers or even charging for subscriptions.

By using the tools from services such as hostthenprofit.com or others, you can grow your online newsletter list to hundreds or even thousands of people.

Blogging Tips

by Rahimah Sultan

Are you having trouble with blogging? Are you at a loss for article subjects?

Here are a few blogging tips.

There are subjects all around you. Just be aware of your surroundings.

You can use newspaper headlines, people watching (what you’ve observed someone doing or making, etc.) or what someone did at the grocery or department store.

You can also research information online. It’s your blog.

You can talk about whatever you wish. If you have a niche-specific blog you probably want to make the article relative to that niche.

While making the article relative to your niche you can use analogies.

For example, you observed someone buying flowers. You can tell a story about the type and color, how carefully they were handled and discuss the customer service.

Then if your niche is internet marketing, you can relate this to products for your customers and your follow up customer service.

Once you think of a topic make an outline just like you did for school papers.

The outline should include:

A Title
An Introduction
Some Key Points
A Conclusion
A Resource box

Here is a very basic outline.

Title

The title should be in bold type and it should be engaging. It should set the tone for the entire article.

Introduction

An introduction is self explanatory. In this article, all of the above is the introduction beginning with the question “Are you having trouble with blogging?”

Headings

Your key points become your headings. I suggest an absolute minimum of three key points. They should also be in bold type.

Conclusion

Your conclusion is a summary of your article and anything else you wish to state that is directly related to your topic.

Resource Box

You can also include a resource box with your picture, a bit of information about yourself, and a link to your site or products.

In summary, you now have a template that you can use for every blog post. You can save it in outline form and use it over and over.

It contains a title, introduction, several key points related to your subject, and a conclusion.

Now you can get busy using this template of blogging tips to make your writing easier.

Promoting With Banner Ads

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

There is a fine line between advertising and spam and unfortunately many business owners don’t understand the difference between the two. This is important because while a clever, well-planted Internet marketing campaign can help attract new customers and keep existing customers loyal, spam is likely to alienate both new and existing customers.

Promoting with banner ads is one of the most popular strategies in Internet marketing. These ads usually appear at the top of websites and span the width of the site. It’s this placement that gave them the name.  Now they come in a variety of sizes and shapes that appear in various locations on a website.

Ad Exchanges

In many cases the business owner purchases advertising space on these websites but the ad may also be placed as part of an exchange or an affiliate marketing campaign. Ad exchanges are just that. You can post your ad on a site and that site owner can post an ad on your site. These agreements may be made individually between business owners with complementary businesses or as part of exchanges facilitated by a third party.

Affiliate Marketing

In the case of affiliate marketing, an affiliate posts and advertisement for your business in exchange for compensation when the ad produces a desired effect such as generating website traffic or generating a sale. The terms of these agreements are determined beforehand and are generally based on a scale of pay per impression, pay per click or pay per sale or lead.

Banner Ad Spam

Over Use of banner ads can be considered spam. Judiciously placing your ad on a few websites which are likely to attract an audience similar to your target audience is smart marketing. But placing your ad on any website which will display that ad, regardless of your target audience, can be construed as spam. Internet users who feel as though your ads are everywhere will likely not take your business seriously and probably will not purchase your products or services because of your overuse of banner ads.

A Home Business With Affiliate Marketing

by Rahimah Sultan

One of the easiest ways to make money from home is through affiliate marketing. There are lots of companies online looking for ways to build their name (brand) while increasing their income.

Company Branding Through Affiliate Marketing

Branding through advertising can be very successful and incredibly high-priced. There are many companies willing to spend lots of money on advertising, and they are even more willing to spend that money on advertising that will really work well for them.

Affiliate Marketing Online From Home

When doing affiliate marketing online from home, the understanding is for you to place the company’s Ad on your site and you get paid a commission when there is a sale. The Ad that you will place on your site will be designed by the company.

If a visitor clicks on the Ad and buys, you get paid whatever commission you agreed to with the company. Now, the sales have increased for the company, and you get money, as an affiliate marketer, for posting that Ad on your site. Both parties benefit.

Traditional sources for advertising such as TV, radio, newspapers, and the Internet can be very expensive. The advertiser always hopes to make the money back from increased sales of merchandise and/or services. Advertisers are going to pay for the Ad space, regardless of the number of sales. The one who runs the Ads is the only one who gains from this practice.

Selling Other People’s Products to Make Money from Home

Now, how do you get people to your Web site or blog? And, why should anyone go through your site to get to another company just so that you can make a commission?

The first thing you need to do is market your Web site or blog (weblog). Since the trend has been toward Internet blogs to get people interested in what you and others have to say, you have the perfect means for advertising. Just place the company’s Ads on your blog to increase recognition of the company site. If what they offer is similar to the information on your blog, i.e., there is some commonality, then you have the perfect opportunity to turn some of your visitors into customers.

Many Online sites are on the whole, gateways to online shopping malls, which are simply affiliate advertising sources where people visit and find what they’re looking for in one place. Although Web surfers do take the time to search for what they want online, there are those who prefer finding everything, basically, in one location.

Your earning capacity from affiliate marketing depends on the kind of Web site you have and the amount of traffic you receive to your site. To maximize your potential to make serious money from affiliate marketing, you can become affiliated with very successful companies, which offer a high commission arrangement or you can become affiliated with several different companies.
