Three Tips for Business Success

When I was nine years old my goal was to become a doctor. That meant
graduating from high school and attending college. I had to formulate a plan
that would enable me to achieve this.
In elementary school things were already decided for you as far as course
selection. In junior high, now called middle school, you had a more flexible
curriculum depending on the path you wanted to follow. It was then that the
thought of becoming a doctor solidified for me, and I used counselors’
recommendations and my own research to determine the classes I needed and when
to take them.
I hope the following three tips for business success are of use to you as an
entrepreneur as you plan and pursue your vision.
1. Keep focused on the main goal
Have a clear vision of your main goal. Although you may veer off course from
time to time, your big vision is always the focus. Sometimes challenges arise
and plans must be changed. Remaining focused on your ultimate goal will enable
you to make the needed changes to keep you moving forward.
2. Persevere
Sometimes you will face uneasiness and fear of the next steps to take. You
will need perseverance to keep moving forward and to stay on track. While in
school I faced a lot of major challenges and had to delay my college education.
I held on to my vision and eventually circumstances were such that I could
attend college. That was much later in my adult life and I focused on
“plan B” and received my college degree. Although I did not become a
doctor, I pursued something I was truly passionate about. You will also need
passion to succeed.
3. Be flexible
You need to formulate a basic plan that allows for changes. Sometimes large
changes to the plan will be necessary. You also need a marketing outline for
promoting your business. Decide which avenues and platforms you will use and
what your budget will look like.

are an entrepreneur or plan to be one and have decided the path you want to
follow.

Three Ingredients of Business Success

According to Clate Mask, there are three ingredients of business success: Passion, Freedom and Impact. He goes on to say, “Impact should be at the core of your business. You might think that when your business reaches a certain stage of growth or you have a bigger budget you’ll then decide to make an impact. Don’t wait! Start from the beginning. Very early in our business we made giving and helping others a key part of our purpose. If having an impact is a key part of your business from day one, you will make an impact on someone’s life every day.”
Passion is your drive. Freedom is the ability to spend your time and money as you see fit, and Impact should be the core of your business.
Loving what you do and being paid for it allows room for mistakes and growth. You do not have to be an expert to start a business, but you must be able to keep your message going.
You need to start somewhere. Start with something you are passionate about that people will pay you for. Because you are not an expert yet, chances are that you will not be paid a lot of money for it. Look at the long-term goal for your vision, and do not be discouraged by the lack of pay or progress you will initially experience.
As you make decisions about a business, do keep in mind these Three Ingredients of Business Success.

Having a successful internet business is simply a matter of understanding how things work, and applying that knowledge. Following are 4 steps to a successful internet business.
Find something you feel is a good business opportunity
You can search the internet for all sorts of business ideas and opportunities. Searching on any search engine with the keywords Work At Home, Business Opportunities, Home Based Business, Affiliate Programs, Make Money Online, etc., will produce 1000’s of results. Affiliate programs are good business opportunities because the ONLY thing you need to do to run your internet business is to market your affiliate link. With a traditional business you have to deal with inventory, storage, packing, shipping, complaints, returns, phone calls, emails, checks and credit cards just to name a few! With affiliate programs, once someone has clicked on your affiliate link your only job is getting the next person to click on it.
Get your own webpage
You want to put your internet business on a webpage of your own. A webpage is like a store front. It projects an air of professionalism. Think about it. Do you feel the same about buying from a vendor on the street as you do about buying from a person in a store? They’re both vendors, but you’re more trusting of the person who has a store than you are of a street vendor.
Your webpage does not have to be fancy. If you only have a brief description of what your webpage is about along with individual descriptions of your product or products people will respect that. Get your own blog and make one post a day. A blog, short for, “Web Log,” is a great way to establish yourself as an authority figure on whatever topic you decide. As people return to read your daily articles, they will eventually come to view you as an authority on whatever your blog is about. They’ll eventually develop confidence in what you are saying, and will begin to trust you. As a result some people will check out your webpage to see what you have to offer them, and people tend to buy more from people they know and trust. Their confidence in you will be an additional factor that will compel people to buy from you. There are many places online that will host and let you set up your blog for free, although it’s best to have your own blog and not a free one.
Write and submit articles to article submission sites
This is the most important. This is how you’ll get FREE advertising. People are searching the internet for free information. When you submit your articles online, the search engines will eventually find them and will spider every word. When people do a search using keywords or phrases that are in your articles, they will turn up in the search results. So, be sure to insert highly searched-for-keywords and phrases into your articles. You’ll need to include your bio at the bottom of all your articles. Your bio (known as your resource box) will contain a brief description about who you are along with a link to your website. An example is: Jane Smith is the owner of yoursite.com. Jane helps people to work at home using various business opportunities that include affiliate programs. The more articles you write and submit, the higher the chances are of your articles keywords and phrases showing up on search results. Take your time and check your spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, etc. No one will take what you have to say seriously if you don’t write correctly.
Having a successful internet business is simply a matter of understanding how things work, and applying that knowledge. It does not take any special skill or any great intelligence. If you follow these steps, you cannot fail. The most important thing, as with anything in life, is persistence.

No Free Rides in Business

I think most people realize there are really no free rides in life. This especially applies to business. You cannot get something for nothing. There are so many unscrupulous people trying every way possible to take your hard-earned money by daily touting free websites, automatic money machines, turnkey businesses and systems, your own branded website and on and on. There are no free rides in business. By using one of those sites or systems, you generally have no control. If they disappear so goes the business.
When my son was a teen, he pleaded with me to help him get a JVC player for either his Birthday or Christmas. Some of the details have faded from my memory. I do recall saying something like that’s a lot of money for something that probably won’t hold your interest for very long. It was a challenge being a single parent of two children and having to be really careful with my money.
My son has always been very industrious and worked part-time jobs as a teen. He offered to help pay for it, but since this was something he wanted so much, more so than anything before, I got it for him. He loved that player, and it was the beginning of a “paying” hobby for him as a DJ before joining the Air Force.
Early in his military career he was stationed in Germany, at Ramstein Air Force Base where I spent a month with him, just before the United States became involved in Iraq, in 2002, not knowing if I would see him alive again after that. I am very happy to say, although he went through a lot in his 23 plus years of active duty, he came out alive and well.
During that month, mid-December through mid-January, my son was attending school as well as working his base job. It was an unusually bitter winter. He was out in the evenings putting up posters to advertise his upcoming DJing gigs. He had some challenges early on but never gave up. Over the years he has become a major player in the DJ world, playing parties for some of the top hip hop artists around. He still plays today and does his 9-5.
Although I did not know it, his DJing dream began before he got that JVC player, which he still has and showed me while I was in Germany that month, and reminded me of what I had said all those years ago about a passing fancy.
If you are thinking of starting an Internet business, you must have a plan, be tenacious, and never give up. It will take time and you will see positive results only after doing the work.
So, forget about all the shiny objects thrown at you daily and decide what you want to accomplish and plan accordingly, because there are No Free Rides in Business.
