Internet Marketing Without a Website

by Rahimah Sultan

If you want to market online and don’t want to build and/or maintain a website, there are plenty of opportunities to earn money online as an affiliate marketer – no website or blog required. Following are 3 options.

Forums
Whatever your niche, you should interact with like-minded individuals on forums and blogs. In forums you can put your affiliate link in the signature line, and on blogs place it in the comments.

When starting out in forums, you must follow the rules which will be stated, and you must interact and add helpful content. Don’t start mindlessly posting your link. That is spamming and you will be blocked.

Some forums don’t allow affiliate links in the signature, especially if you’re a new member. So, you can purchase a domain for your affiliate link. That way when a visitor clicks on your domain it will redirect to your affiliate link. This makes you look very professional, and you can use the domain in other places as well so that people get to know you. The more active you are in the forum, the more likely people are to view your affiliate link/signature. Warrior Forum, Digital Point, WickedFire, and Marketing Checkpoint are affiliate marketing forums.

For an affordable domain provider I recommend GoDaddy or Namecheap.

Hub Pages
HubPages is a popular revenue-sharing site that’s a great option to try your hand at affiliate marketing in a subject with which you’re familiar. Users create ‘Hubs’ that are filled with useful content, videos, polls, and other category-focused information. You’ll have hundreds of topics to choose from, ranging from art and design to weather.

Besides flexibility in sharing, HubPages has affiliate programs built right into their platform. As a ‘Hubber,’ you can easily take part in the HubPages Amazon Program and their eBay Program. This means you can create hubs that are almost instantly set up to be monetized!

Since HubPages is built on user-generated content, the more helpful your content the better your chances of attracting an audience. As your audience grows, you’ll stand a greater chance of making money if you’re sharing genuinely helpful content that links to products readers will like.

Note: Some areas do not allow affiliating with Amazon, due to multiple tax rates within the state.

Social Media
Social media offers a free way to share your affiliate link. You can place the link in your Bio, then create valuable content for your followers, and encourage them to visit your Bio link.

You can do this on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, to name a few. But remember, since you don’t technically own your social media accounts, you must follow the rules of each site regarding affiliate links.

No matter where you decide to promote affiliate links, you should always provide valuable content first and foremost and only include affiliate links when it makes sense. It’s also a good idea to use affiliate links only occasionally. Not everything you create should be for the sole purpose of making a sale.

Of course there are plenty of opportunities to earn income online without building and/or maintaining a website, but forums, HubPages, and social media offer you a great place to start.

Writing New Content Easily

by Rahimah Sultan
photo from blog

Your content marketing strategy must begin with articles as the base. You can put them on your blog or publish them in article directories. It’s preferable to place them on your blog. Whichever you choose, you need to first create them. You can use the following as a guide to writing new content easily.

Generally, people will start with an introduction, list a few points, and write a conclusion. But that presents a problem if you’re stuck. So start with the end, the conclusion. What is it you want people to do as a result of having reviewed your content?

You include a call to action (CTA), but you must ask yourself why anyone would want to take action in the first place. If you don’t have a good answer then the chances that anyone else will are next to nil.

You have to start with the end in mind. Give people a reason for wanting to see what you have to offer. Tell them what it can do to help them solve a problem. Discuss some key points that lead to a logical conclusion.

You want to peak their interest so they’ll follow through and click on that link which leads to a free gift for joining your newsletter or sends them to a blog article that can help with something they’re struggling with or whatever you’re wanting them to take action on.

First, make an outline using your key selling points. This outline is simply a few key things jotted down for your benefit. List the main point and write a couple of lines about it, then go to the next important point and do the same. Use three or four key ideas.

Your outline should look something like this:

The problem – Don’t know how to…

My widget solves that problem by…
a)
b)
My widget solves the problem (how?)
a)
b)

Click here (CTA link) to check out the widget

You’re working backward, in no particular order, and listing the main points. Be sure that each bullet point and subtext leads logically to the next thing, and that in turn leads the reader to take some sort of action.

What would the reader need to feel in order to click on your link? Your conclusion needs to make people feel obligated to do what you say to get what they want.

When you finish discussing your points or ideas, the conclusion should make perfect sense.

Writing new content easily can be simpler than you think when you follow this approach of starting with the end in mind and logically laying out your key points to lead people to where you want them to go, i.e., your CTA.

Internet Marketing Training

by Rahimah Sultan

When developing a marketing strategy, you need to first develop customer personas. You need to ask some questions:

*What are your customers roles?
*Do they have decision-making authority?
*What are the demographics…

Every marketing strategy should start with your customer base. Who are the people using your product? What do these individuals value, what do they feel, what products are they currently using, and what will it take to sign them on as paying customers?

Marketing is about human-to-human relationships and can happen through any online or offline medium. At the end of the day, your customers probably won’t remember whether they found your company through a click on a Facebook ad or through a referral from a friend.

Online Marketing: What Is It?

by Rahimah Sultan
photo from blog

Online marketing is using the internet, to reach people, to spread the word about you and your company’s products or services.

It is doing anything you can do online to get more people seeing what you have to offer and to get them to eventually buy from you.

Online marketing is a broad category with several sub-categories that include SEO, SEM, content marketing, social media marketing, PPC advertising, affiliate marketing, and email marketing.

SEO is the process of using certain words (keywords) in your online content to enable search engines to pick it up and show it as a top result for anyone searching for those words.

SEM is paid. Whereas SEO is used for organic searches, you can pay to get hits to your site which will get you top ranking in search engine results.

With SEM you have to have a paid product or service in order to do well or you will not be able to afford the cost. Do not use this method when starting out online and offering free content.

Content Marketing is a method focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to a particular audience with the intent of an ultimate profitable customer action.

Social Media Marketing is done on hundreds of social media networks. You have to choose the platforms that work best for your type business. The context must fit the platform.

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising is just that. You pay for each click received on your ad. It’s similar to SEM which is only one special type of PPC advertising.

Affiliate Marketing is directly communicating with your audience and customers. You can easily engage directly with your customers with this form of marketing, and it’s a great way to sell products and services.

Email Marketing is used once your customers have given you permission to contact them. You can email them at any time, providing value and asking them to buy when the time is right.

With the power of the internet and these forms of online marketing you can work from home after your day job or on weekends to build a very profitable business. As with anything worth having, you must be willing to put in the work.

While deciding what to blog about this week, I remembered an article I posted exactly three years ago today. It’s coincidental, if you believe such. I believe things happen for a reason.

I felt like a light topic. My thought process went from summer, books, and library to revisiting this particular article. You can click here to read it.

Email Marketing Done Right

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

Email marketing is all about building trust and relationships. There are rules that have to be followed, known as the Can-Spam rules, which state that no unsolicited emails can be sent to individuals. You can Google CAN-SPAM for a list of dos and don’ts. You want your email marketing done right.

So, you have set up your business and you need to let the world know. Just how do you do this?

You set up a lead capture page (LCP), which is also known as a squeeze page or splash page, and advertise it. When people see this page and opt in they are automatically added to your list. Now you can start building a relationship with the pre-written follow-up emails in your autoresponder that are scheduled to go out automatically at specified intervals.

Each email gives a little bit of information about your product or service. Make them short and to the point. Talk about how your product will make their life easier, what it will do for them. Remember, your goal is to build a relationship based on trust so people will buy from you and maybe become a repeat customer. Do not sell, sell, sell in every email.

Although it will take commitment, work and persistence to build your list, you must do it yourself. Build your own list.

Do not buy lists. They are made up of people who have never heard of you or your company. Think like a customer. Would you buy from someone you have never heard of and know nothing about?

Put your customers first by giving them helpful information and tips before referencing your products or services. Email marketing is not a get-rich-quick solution, although it can be a fast way to reach thousands of customers.

Email marketing done right is all about giving your customers useful information and building trusting relationships.
