Five Tips for Becoming a Creatively Prolific Content Creator

by Rahimah Sultan
photo from blog

Sitting down to write an article without knowing what to say really wastes time. A blogger wants to write extremely useful and insightful content.

There are a few simple, common habits that will help you do your best writing in less time. Here are five tips for becoming a creatively prolific content creator.

Keep a stack of good ideas on hand
Keep a running list of topics. There are many sources for ideas. You can sign up for Google alerts with a few industry keywords. You can skim national newspapers and magazine stories, read small publications and trade publications, try new mediums like YouTube videos, and listen to podcasts. These are only a few suggestions.

Blog in Batches
You may need to find photos, upload them and enter credits. Of course you need great headlines. This can be done in one sitting for future posts.

Don’t try to write during your least productive time periods.

We’re hard-wired to be more naturally creative at certain times of day. Use that to your advantage. Try to organize your life so that your peak creative time is free of trivial tasks, phone calls, or social media. Write as much as you can during this time frame.

Write ahead
Back up all your deadlines by at least 48 hours, instead of writing frantically and having to post right away. Then you’ll have time to write a first draft today, leave it alone, and revisit it tomorrow.

Keep it simple
When writing your posts, don’t ramble on too long or wander off onto multiple trails and tangents. Follow one train of thought, and don’t overthink it. If you have more ideas on a subject, split them up and create a series. Don’t try to cram everything into one post.

So, stay on top of your blogging by keeping a list of ideas on hand. Blog in batches and don’t try to write during your least productive periods. Give yourself a 48-hour time frame so you don’t have to write and post your article immediately, and keep it simple. Using these five tips for becoming a creatively prolific content creator can help with your blogging.

6 Content Marketing Trends for 2018

by Rahimah Sultan
photo from blog

For 2018 two things are certain:

Content marketing will become even more important
Content creation and distribution will change radically

Although content marketing is effective, the channels, tactics and tools that marketers use will continue to evolve.

There are 13 content marketing trends that will dominate 2018. Six will be discussed in this article.

Trend No. 1– Remarketing Will Become the Engine of Lead Generation
If you have some existing customer data, setting up a remarketing campaign isn’t very difficult.
If you have an email list of people who clicked through on an offer without buying anything, you can create a Facebook custom audience to show them a discount coupon.

Or you might have a different custom audience for people who read 2 or more of your blog posts without signing up for any lead magnet.

If you have existing user data, you can start a remarketing campaign on these platforms:

Google Ad Remarketing
Facebook remarketing
AdRoll
RetargetLinks

Trend No. 2– Personalized Content Experiences
One-to-one marketing aka personalization, is the key to good customer experiences.

When you visit a landing page and enter your name and email to download an eBook, the next time you visit the same site, you’re greeted by name and also shown more eBooks related to a particular interest. It’s obviously already being done, but more and more marketers will begin using personalization.

Personalized emails include name, email address, company URL, company size, etc.

Trend No. 3– Brands Will Create More Super Niche Content/Sub-Brands
No matter what industry you’re in, you will need to create niche content if you want to thrive in 2018. For example, if you’re in the fitness industry you can sell related products and reports on fitness supplements.

Trend No. 4– Content Will Adapt to Natural Language Search

Due to voice search we’re moving into screen-less search. Voice searches already make up 20% of all Google searches on mobiles.

Since the way we speak is very different from the way we type, your content needs to adapt to natural language search. Instead of writing about “best small business marketing tools,” write about “What are the best marketing tools for small businesses?” Here are a few things you can do:

a) Write complete, full-sentence questions and answers in your articles, rather than breaking it up into several sentences.

b) Use long, specific phrases in your titles and headers.

c) When determining your target keywords, keep in mind the conversational nature of voice searches. Try to target longer, naturally phrased keywords.

Trend No. 5– There Will Be More Bite-Sized Content
Over the past few years marketers have created longer and longer content. Longer content does rank better in SERPs which is fine if that’s your intention. But if your target market is millennials you’re more likely to get positive ROI from shorter, visually-rich content.

Instead of creating long-form content, mix it up with long and short. Use tweetable graphics or sharable in-post graphics.

Trend No. 6– Influencer Marketing Will Change
Influencer is closing the gap with video advertising. Readers are sick of reading lengthy roundup posts with shallow, regurgitated insights, and they want more authentic stories and actionable knowledge.

Instead of aiming for volume, your key focus should be “collaboration” with influencers to create content that speaks to your and the influencer’s audience.

Steps to take:

a) Identify key brand or product influencers, either manually or through a platform like TapInfluence.

b) Create a marketing campaign directed at those influencers.

c) Create a secondary marketing campaign for the influencers to drive greater awareness to a larger set of target consumers (such as a snackable content from an interview/analysis).

d) Track key metrics relating to reach, sales and brand awareness.

That content marketing is here to stay is beyond question, but the way you create and distribute content will change drastically in 2018.

From blog posts and social media updates, we should see a shift towards video and niche-focused, personalized content. Bite-sized content should come back into vogue and marketers will increasingly turn to remarketing to reach their audiences, especially in B2B.

Two Places To Use for Your Content Marketing

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

Content marketing is a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of online material (such as videos, blogs, and social media posts) that does not explicitly promote a brand but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or services.

There are three necessary elements for creating great quality content for your audience. It must be useful and solve problems, and it needs to show them how to do something. You need a platform to get your message out to people. I shall be discussing two places to use for your content marketing.

You can grow your brand and cultivate relationships with content marketing. This will add the depth and visibility that you need in order to be successful in the marketplace. You have many choices open to you for creating varied content and a personalized strategy for your business.

Content marketing includes informative content like blogs and infographics in the early brand-building stages. Once your prospects are ready to make a purchase, you can provide more options such as eBooks or product videos.

Blogs

A blog is a great content marketing asset. Setting up a WordPress blog is simple, and you have control of it. It’s like a store which you fill with products (information) for customers. Be sure to use WordPress.org and NOT WordPress.com.

There are SEO keyword techniques you can use that enable the search engines to find your blog site. Keywords are the words and phrases that Internet users type into the search box of a search engine, such as Google, to find the websites that match what they are looking for. If you are creating content in WordPress on your own domain, WordPress SEO is a must.

This plugin will allow you to configure the SEO settings for each piece of content you write and analyze it for keyword optimization. The right on-page optimization makes it easier for search engines to rank you more accurately so your audience can find you organically.

As you write and post articles about your business you will begin to get free targeted traffic.

Content Marketing Channels

There are many marketing channels for you to choose from that include social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Tumblr, and WhatsApp.

Choose the marketing channels that best suit your needs starting with one at a time, so you don’t become overwhelmed. Learn how to use one to your advantage before adding another.

Get acquainted with your target audience, engage in conversations that position you as a thought leader and build your brand by getting them to know, like and trust you.

Once you get an audience you can deliver messages directly to them with relevant content that inspires them to take action at any point in the buyer’s journey.

Content marketing is the technique of creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience — with the objective of driving profitable customer action.

You should be able to get started with these two places to use for your content marketing.

Writing New Content Easily

by Rahimah Sultan
photo from blog

Your content marketing strategy must begin with articles as the base. You can put them on your blog or publish them in article directories. It’s preferable to place them on your blog. Whichever you choose, you need to first create them. You can use the following as a guide to writing new content easily.

Generally, people will start with an introduction, list a few points, and write a conclusion. But that presents a problem if you’re stuck. So start with the end, the conclusion. What is it you want people to do as a result of having reviewed your content?

You include a call to action (CTA), but you must ask yourself why anyone would want to take action in the first place. If you don’t have a good answer then the chances that anyone else will are next to nil.

You have to start with the end in mind. Give people a reason for wanting to see what you have to offer. Tell them what it can do to help them solve a problem. Discuss some key points that lead to a logical conclusion.

You want to peak their interest so they’ll follow through and click on that link which leads to a free gift for joining your newsletter or sends them to a blog article that can help with something they’re struggling with or whatever you’re wanting them to take action on.

First, make an outline using your key selling points. This outline is simply a few key things jotted down for your benefit. List the main point and write a couple of lines about it, then go to the next important point and do the same. Use three or four key ideas.

Your outline should look something like this:

The problem – Don’t know how to…

My widget solves that problem by…
a)
b)
My widget solves the problem (how?)
a)
b)

Click here (CTA link) to check out the widget

You’re working backward, in no particular order, and listing the main points. Be sure that each bullet point and subtext leads logically to the next thing, and that in turn leads the reader to take some sort of action.

What would the reader need to feel in order to click on your link? Your conclusion needs to make people feel obligated to do what you say to get what they want.

When you finish discussing your points or ideas, the conclusion should make perfect sense.

Writing new content easily can be simpler than you think when you follow this approach of starting with the end in mind and logically laying out your key points to lead people to where you want them to go, i.e., your CTA.

3 Tips for Promoting Your Site

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

If you are thinking about setting up an online business or wondering how to promote one, the following 3 tips for promoting your site will be helpful.

Decide what kind of business you want.

Decide what your business will be. Then set up a blog centered around that interest and promote it with content marketing using your own original articles. Blogging is a great way to establish your online presence. You can employ different marketing strategies to promote your site (blog). These can include articles for ezines, the use of social media platforms like Facebook, paid Ads through Google, and other avenues.

Be sure your blog is one over which you have total control, NOT a Blogger or a Blogspot platform. I recommend WordPress.org and NOT WordPress.com. If you use WordPress.org you will have to find your own hosting company and buy a domain name. Domain names cost about ten dollars a year, and you can use GoDaddy.com, NameCheap, com DomainOrb.com or another company of your choice to find a domain name.

Write content
Write content for your particular audience that solves a particular problem and encourages engagement. Content marketing is about sharing valuable information to attract prospects and turning them into customers and repeat buyers.

You can use your own fresh content to keep your blog up to date and that entices visitors to return.

Once you gain more visibility in the search engines you begin to look more authoritative. It’s human nature to gravitate toward those with authority.

Post regularly
Make regular posts to your blog and use SEO so you get found by search engines. Be sure to use a call to action (CTA) in your posts with a clickable link that instructs people to click for information or products that you are offering which can help solve their problem. If you have a list you can keep them updated about your latest posts.

Before setting up your blog, take time to carefully decide whom you will be writing for and the type of content that you will include.

One of the best ways to showcase your knowledge and skills is to provide content that can help your audience.

You can share your blog content on social media to encourage communication with your target audience and then use those channels to promote audience participation by redirecting them to your blog or a particular post, and you can ask for feedback.

So, thoroughly consider the type of business you want, set up your site, write content to promote your business and gain authority, and make regular posts to your blog. Using these 3 Tips for Promoting Your Site will help you get started.
