by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

This is part one of Marketing Roadmap Success: Getting Free Traffic. Although there are many different types of marketing roadmaps, in this particular Video Series we will talk about seven ways to get free traffic to your site or business. This article covers getting backlinks, SEO and better SEO positioning. Better search engine optimization positioning allows you to get better exposure, more traffic, and more targeted traffic to your site or business.

The series contains seven videos. This article covers three of the seven marketing roadmap success strategies.

1)  Blogging Strategy

First, build a blog and post an article that relates to your website. For more search engine exposure, post frequently. When creating a blog choose a title based on keywords related to your niche or site, and use an easy to read template. The first article should be educational content with information or tips to keep people coming back to read more of your articles. This should not be advertising. Then at the end of the article, redirect people to your website. This enables you to get more targeted traffic.

2)  Blog Commenting

Reading other peoples’ blogs and commenting on their articles is another way to get targeted traffic to your site. There is a discussion of free software and using Google for getting backlinks and how to search for blogs and valuable sites to leave comments on to get long-term traffic for your site.

3) Wiki Traffic

A Wiki site is a massive website, knowledge base or online library. Google looks upon Wikipedia as a great site with a good source of content. The video series details this process and how to use Wikipedia safely and legally to get good traffic back to your site without you getting banned.

If you follow each video step by step, even though they might cover different subjects that all fall under the category of free traffic, you’ll start to see traffic come to your site or business within a day of implementing these Marketing Roadmap Success: Getting Free Traffic strategies.

Affiliate Link URL Masking

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

What is Affiliate Link URL Masking?

If you are an affiliate marketer you have links that look like the following examples.
1) http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Wireless-Reading-Display-Globa lly/dp/B003FSUDM4/ref=amb_link_353259562_2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIK X0DER&pf_rd_s=center-10&pf_rd_r=11EYKTN682A79T370AM3&pf_rd_ …

2) http://secure.hostgator.com/~affiliat/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=bcdefg

3) http://www.safelisttactics.com/?rid=118???

These links could and should be masked with shortened links like the following.

1) http://tinyurl.com/Kindle

2) http://tinyurl.com/6u9d26e

3) http://tinyurl.com/safelists-mktgg

Although there are numerous programs available, these are examples using tinyurl.com

Reasons for Link Masking

As with the first two examples above, sometimes your domain is too long and complicated to spell and/or write. Or you may be using free hosting that does not give you a dedicated domain but just a subdirectory of their domain. Using a shorter, more understandable and eye pleasing link will add a big boost to your online marketing.

Another big reason to mask affiliate links is to keep people from stealing your money. Anyone who is actively promoting other people’s products and/or services as an affiliate could be losing money from hard earned commissions because of those UGLY long affiliate URLs that target you as an affiliate, and scare away your visitors and/or potential customers.

Affiliate link masking sounds pretty obvious. All you’re doing is replacing that UGLY long affiliate URL with a nice cloaked (forwarded inside an invisible frame), professional domain name like the short ones listed in the above examples, that remain sticky.

Sticky simply means that the URL remains the domain name you chose, once your visitor has clicked on it, and it doesn’t redirect back to the UGLY long affiliate URL you started with. This makes you, the affiliate, look professional in the eyes of your visitors and/or potential customers. They don’t know if you are an affiliate or the actual web site owner. A web site’s stickiness is important to online advertisers because the longer visitors stay on the site the more exposure they have to potential advertising.

And lastly, people just don’t like to click on strange looking long links.

How does URL Masking work?

In case of URL Masking the Domain Forwarding server sends the client a Frames page where the Frame Source contains the destination URL you have specified. This ensures that the URL in the address bar of the browser does not change when the client sees the destination page.

As Web surfers become more knowledgeable of how affiliate programs work, more people will omit your affiliate ID or use someone else’s ID when ordering. Either way, you may lose commissions you’re supposed to get. Using full window frame page is probably the most effective (though not perfect) way to prevent such loss. In fact, practically all affiliate link cloaking software uses this method. The address bar won’t display your affiliate URL unless the affiliate site has a frame breaker (e.g.: Gmail). If visitors book mark the site, they will come back to your frame page. This means they use YOUR affiliate ID every time, and this could translate into sales.

Although masking your URL address can be very effective for marketing, in some cases it’s not necessary and disturbs the normal navigation of the user. So be sure to use URL masking only when it’s really necessary, and help convert more of your visitors into SALES!

There are many services online that offer this. Simply go to Google and do a search.

If you are a serious Affiliate Marketer and/or are just starting out online with affiliate programs then this is something you’ll definitely want to look into. Not only will you look professional in the eyes of your visitors and/or potential customers you’ll also be safe guarding your hard earned affiliate commissions with affiliate link URL masking. When visitors come to your site, the link is their first impression, and first impressions matter, especially when doing business online.

Structure

This is to say you’ll need to establish set working hours and not deviate from them simply because you’re working alone and can do what you please! Whether you work for somebody else or have decided to be your own boss, if you’re not productive your ‘paycheck’ will suffer as will your job security or business!

Self Motivation

Establishing the ‘proper’ environment is a well and good as mentioned above however without the proper motivation you’ll get little accomplished! Are you self motivated because if you’re not, trying to be your own boss will likely result in failure so this is something you MUST consider beforehand!

Remember, when working alone you’ll need not only to plan your work on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, but you’ll also need to work your plan! Motivation will be needed to not only work through problems that may arise, and they will, but to also resist the temptation to ‘take time off’ whenever you please just because you can!

How To Start A Website Business

In Merv Stevens’ article How To Start Website Business, he states that everyone has skills, whether it’s writing or approaching others and starting a conversation. He says that to put your best foot forward and increase your chances of success, you have to think about the things that you do best when you research affordable home based business opportunities.

Stevens, of WealthSuccessVentures.com,  discusses four points in that regard.

1) Understanding the value of persistence
2) Emulating those that are successful
3)Looking for products that are consumable
4)Considering businesses that offer passive income opportunities

On the first point, he states that in order to succeed you can’t give up. Too many people give up on perfectly good affordable home based business opportunities far too soon. There are thousands of success stories of men and women who absolutely refused to accept defeat.

On the second point of emulation, be sure you know who is providing the online courses that help you start up and run affordable home based business opportunities. Do your homework and make sure the people providing these courses have successful track records.

The third thing is to offer products that are used up and re-ordered, so that there will be a constant demand for what you offer. These can be food, soap, skin care products or other items that people use every day.

And finally, look for affordable home based business opportunities that provide passive income. These are best for making a lot of money. For instance, network marketing offers the opportunity to get paid on what you and your team do. If you get a good group under you, you’re paid whether you do anything or not.

Affiliate programs, where you advertise and make sales for a commission, is another way of getting passive income. Many of these programs are very affordable home based business opportunities, since they cost little or nothing to join.

It’s hard to choose. But, settle on something you’re comfortable with. Choose quality products and never give up. Affordable home based business opportunities with passive income features let you earn income while you sleep. This is how to start a website business.

One of the Best Ways to Make Money Online

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

Blogging is one of the best ways to make money online. Blogs are a very popular way of promoting your products and services. They are easy to install, easy to administer, easy to update, and search engines love them. Here are three ways to boost traffic to your blog and start making money online.

1) Update your content regularly

Search engines and blog services love regular updates. It’s very likely that you will get targeted traffic from search engines if you post regularly. I average an article a week. There are pros and cons for this. Some say daily and others say less often is better. It’s really dependent upon your content and your readers. If you’re a beginner you might post less as you may not have the good quality content that long time bloggers have or you don’t want to suffer burn out.

2) Post in forums

You can post in in forums, but don’t spam them. Post something fresh and interesting and put a link to your blog in your signature. Don’t just post in any forum. For example if you’re selling something to do with music, don’t post in forums that have nothing to do with music. Be sure to abide by the guidelines of each forum you use. Forum posting provides valuable one-way links to you that are good for search engine position in Google, Yahoo and Bing.

3) Submit to blog search engines

There are masses of search engines available, that list only blogs. Just do a Google search and you’ll find plenty. These blog search engines will help you with targeted traffic. Be sure to write a good title and a good description for your article so people will easily find it and click on your link.

If you just follow these three steps you’ll start seeing lots of traffic to your blog. Don’t forget to update your blog with fresh unused content that you write yourself. And remember that having a blog is one of the best ways to make money online.

Google’s Keyword Tool Is Dead

If you are in article marketing you know the necessity of keyword research and SEO. You have to research the best keywords and then do the SEO using those keywords. Now that Google’s Keyword Tool is dead we have to find something else to use. While you can use the replacement tool—their Keyword Planner—you must open an account and accounts are no longer free.

I know of four alternatives at the moment.

The number one, top of the line keyword search tool is at Webfire.com.

Webfire was developed by people who understand software as well as marketing techniques. However, it’s very costly. That’s to be expected for the top of the line in anything. With Webfire you get 27 traffic-getting tools.

When it comes to businesses getting free traffic, leads, rankings, and exposure for their websites and brands, automation is the key.

Webfire:

Has 22 traffic-getting software tools
Lets you promote unlimited websites
Has world class training and Support
Has a 30 day money back guarantee and you don’t have to upload or download any software to use it.

It works for any site, whether it’s a WordPress site, any other type of blog, or just a website that doesn’t have a blog. It doesn’t matter what kind of website that you have, if you want to promote it and get fast free traffic, leads and exposure, WebFire can help you do that.

It works on a Mac or PC – it doesn’t matter what kind of computer you have. You simply need to be able to connect to the internet and use your internet browser to access the WebFire membership and the software.

This works in any country in the world that you want to access the internet from and promote a website in that location or promote it globally.

Following are three free keyword research tool sites.

1) Keyword Eye
KeywordEye.com is a British site that lets you keep an eye on the competition and monitor how websites link to you.

2) Keyword Spy

KeywordSpy.com allows you to perform advanced keyword research and keyword tracking to study what your competitors have been advertising in their Adwords campaigns and other PPC campaigns. You can get complete in-depth analysis, stats, budget, affiliates & ad copies of your competitors.

3) SEM Rush
SEMRush.com performs the same as Keyword Spy but allows you to go deeper with your research.

Of course there are paid plans in all three free sites from which you can compare and choose. Since Google’s keyword tool is dead, you can use one of these alternatives for your marketing needs.

Article Marketing With PLR Articles

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

Article marketing is by far the best free means of promoting your business and increasing your sales and opt-in subscribers. Article marketing with PLR articles is a good way for for non-writers to get started. Usually when people think of Article Marketing, they focus on how to write the article rather than how to market it.

You can submit articles to article directories, ezine publishers and article announcement lists. Most people are familiar with the first two, but maybe not the last one.

Article announcement list

An article announcement list is a type of mailing list that receives free reprint articles. People who would like to receive free online content sign up for the list, and when the articles are submitted they receive them by way of email. This means that to send your article to the mailing list, you need to join the mailing list and agree to receive content from other people. In this regard, it’s like a safelist—you can end up with thousands of emails in your box.

When you submit articles in this manner you achieve several things:

You establish yourself as an expert in your field

Readers are more likely to listen to you if they feel you know what you’re talking about.

You give the reader a link to your website

By attaching a resource box to your article, you are giving the reader a link to your website. If readers are impressed with your knowledge, they’ll probably click on your link to see what it is that you’re offering.

You increase your search engine page rank

Your search engine page rank is increased by providing a non-reciprocal link to your website. Search engines seem to give extra weight to non-reciprocal links in their page rankings.

But many marketers are not comfortable writing their own articles. That’s why there’s such a demand for private label articles. You can then run into a problem since there are many of these services available.

Depending on how these articles are used, the results can be ugly, bad or good.

The ugly: Many marketers put so many links in their article that it becomes one long ad. This will not only get you rejected, but ultimately banned if you do it often enough.

The Bad: Laziness plagues many marketers who use private label articles. They simply copy and paste an article and submit it with no personalization. So give yourself a fighting chance of getting your article approved by at least changing the title and the wording in the first paragraph.

Most article directories require that your articles be approved before they’re posted. But it’s highly unlikely that they actually read the article, as dozens, even hundreds are submitted daily. They will use software for the task.

Most directory software will automatically search their database for duplicate titles. If the title of your article matches one in their database, yours will be rejected. Most directories also check the body of the article for the percentage of duplicated content.

The Good: When used correctly private label articles can give the non-writer a big boost over other marketers. They can increase your traffic, sales, and opt-in subscribers.

Article marketing with PLR articles is a way for non-writers to get content and to advertise. A good article contains useful content for your readers, whether they buy your product or not. It will increase the chances of them clicking on your link in the resource box. Private label articles are a great tool when correctly used.
