A Mile To The Library For Real Books
by Rahimah Sultan
While taking few minutes break and ruminating on what to write about today, a nice summer breeze came through my window. Since I was trying to decide on a subject, my mind went back to my earlier years and my love of reading. There’s a break in the heat wave we’ve been having here and the temperature is about 75 degrees F, which reminded me of walking a mile to the library in Ohio when I was young and returning in time to sit in the porch swing and read before dark.
Remember when we were young and it was fun to read an actual physical book? Well, maybe reading was not a lot of people’s idea of fun, but it was for me. I used to try to figure out how to get more reading time, especially in elementary and junior high school (now known as middle school) with all the homework.
Books
I really looked forward to summer when school was out and I could walk that mile to the library and return home with at least four books that I had a month to read. In junior high it was pretty much the same scenario.
I remember a couple of my teachers (probably English) giving the class a reading list of classics to be read. I think it was given out a couple of times. I still have mine in a folder with an ongoing list of authors and titles I’ve wanted to read over the years.
As the saying goes, time really flies. I didn’t get to War and Peace until I was an adult and had returned to school when my children were teenagers. As anyone who has read it knows, it’s terribly long and is tedious reading with the philosophical interjections of Tolstoy. It took me three weeks to read it, including weekends. Since then I’ve read Anna Karenina at least three times, and I have the actual book. I love historical Russian novels.
Tablet and Ebook Technology
Anyway, the point of this prattle is new-fangled technology. I love having actual copies of books in my hands when reading. There’s something really comforting about curling up with a good book, and feeling and turning the pages as you read.
I have nothing against the advancement in technology. It’s great, since time seems to be scampering along so quickly and everyone needs to squeeze so much into each day. Having a tablet or ebook allows for reading on the go. I suppose they’re also convenient for students.
Advertising
Although walking a mile to the library for real books was fun, there are now alternatives. These days, working from home online doesn’t allow me much reading time, no matter the form. So, I must say that ebooks and tablets allow people who access the Internet to see and buy products. Any business needs advertising, and that advertising needs to be available on the technology that people are using.

Get Paid To Publish A Newsletter Online
Making money online is a matter of finding an audience who you can either advertise to or receive direct payment from. Either way, you need something interesting or informative with which to catch and hold your readers’ attention. Your content is everything. You can get paid to publish a newsletter online containing your information.
I’ll show you how you can make money presenting and distributing content via a newsletter and how you can connect directly with your audience.
How To Get Paid To Publish A Newsletter Online
First you will need to take care of some technical details.
Newsletter Distribution
The best way to distribute newsletters is through an autoresponder list service. These can be set up to automatically deliver pre-written emails to subscribers at set intervals. Each new subscriber will receive all of the emails in a predetermined sequence. That means you can load up a year’s worth of content (or more), and it will automatically publish straight to your subscribers’ email boxes without you touching it again!
There are many autoresponders to choose from. A free autoresponder can be downloaded from responders.com, but you can get a more professional program from aweber.com. These programs will also help with managing your subscriber list, so you stay spam compliant.
GVO’s hostthenprofit.com is a full service system. You can host your websites, set up a meeting room, plus all the things a simple autoresponder does and for far less money per month than aweber and some others.
To get paid to publish a newsletter online it needs to be attractive, easy to read, and compatible with different computers and internet browsers. You can create beautiful PDF documents using free programs.
Content
You don’t have to create all your own content. You can get free stock photos and articles from sites such as publicdomainimages.net and ezinearticles.com. You can also pay for pre-written content from sites like associatedcontent.com.
Email newsletters are perfect for marketing your own products
If you are running an online business an email newsletter would be perfect for marketing your own products. You could also make money by selling space to advertisers or even charging for subscriptions.
By using the tools from services such as hostthenprofit.com or others, you can grow your online newsletter list to hundreds or even thousands of people.

Using Social Networking Sites
If you haven’t already done so, you might want to think about joining a social networking website. Social networking sites are the way to go for finding and communicating with like-minded people.
Social Networking Websites
If you’re interested in joining a social networking website, the first thing you’ll need to do is find one by doing an Internet search. You’ll find many different sites to choose from including these popular ones that you’ve probably heard of: MySpace, Classmates, Facebook, and LinkedIn. You might want to do more research on the type of communities that are served by these sites in order to find the one that best fits your interests.
Social Website Profile
Once you’ve found a particular site you want to join you have to register before you can start communicating with the members. As part of the registration, you’ll be asked to set up your online profile or profile page.
Although it seems easy enough to create a profile many internet users don’t know what to include or what to leave out.
What Should You Include
One of the most important things to include in your online website is your photo. Although a personal picture is optional it’s generally customary. Most internet users prefer communicating with people they can see. Thus it’s easier to relate to them.
Name and Location
Along with your photograph, you may want to include your name. You need to be very cautious with this. You probably shouldn’t use your full name, especially if your profile or profile page contains a personal photograph of you. Including your picture, your address, and your full name can be dangerous. You wouldn’t want that information to fall into the wrong hands. As much as you would like to fill your social networking profiles with personal information, you need to think about your safety above everything else.
In addition to your name and a location you may want to include other information about yourself like your hobbies, things that are important to you, what you like and what you detest.
Many social networking websites will ask for your favorite color, or about life goals and such. As with your other personal information, it’s important to stay as vague as possible and not use any full names, especially real ones.
By keeping the above mentioned points in mind, you should not only be able to create an online social networking profile that is filled with valuable information, but you can do so while staying safe. Your safety on the internet is in your hands. It’s important to think about safety, as well as internet popularity.
Performance Marketing With 2-Tier Affiliate Programs
Performance marketing with 2-tier affiliate programs means that you sign up for a certain program to promote then you get someone else to do the same. Thus, you become an affiliate marketer. You are promoting someone else’s program or product or service. The person you get to sign up under you is the second tier.
Affiliate Marketer
An affiliate marketer is one who sends visitors to different offers and who gets paid when the visitor performs a certain action.
There are several methods used for completing these actions.
The completed action can be a lead, a sale, a click through, completing a form or some other action.
Performance Marketing Action Codes
Following is a short list of some of the codes related to certain actions.
CPA (Cost Per Action) – The cost paid per qualified action (click, sale, registration) from an online advertisement or affiliate link.
CPC (Cost Per Click) – The cost or cost-equivalent paid per click through from an online advertisement to the advertiser’s destination.
CPL (Cost Per Lead) – Total cost of online advertisement campaign divided by the number of leads generated.
CPM (Cost Per thousand impressions) – An agreed upon price paid to a content site for displaying an advertiser’s banner a thousand times. “M” represents the Roman numeral for 1000.
You need to advertise in order to get people to perform these actions. The advertising methods that you can use include placing banners or text links on your own site, buying sponsored listings in search engines and email marketing.
Payment
Your payment, as an affiliate marketer, is a percentage of the money the person you refer gets paid?
Things To Know
There are some important things to consider when deciding on affiliate programs.
Is the program or affiliate network legitimate and does it have a good tracking system.
Does it have good campaigns and attractive offers for promotion so that affiliates can actually make money.
Does it pay in a timely fashion. You don’t want to have to wait 60 days for payment.
What percentage does it pay referrals? How does this percentage compare with industry standards?
How long do you continue to receive referral commissions?
Performance marketing with 2-tier affiliate programs is simply signing up for a program to promote and finding other marketers to do the same.
So check things out and find a 2-tier program that can make you money over and over for a little effort put in today.

Part 1 is a Quick Start Guide to Lead Generation
The book explores Landing Tabs, Facebook Ads and Promoted Posts. Lead generation is a mix of driving completely new cold traffic to our content, products or services and also, getting in front of warm traffic, which are people who have already expressed an interest, but perhaps haven’t taken any significant action yet.
This means we’ll be advertising to those who have never heard of us and to current fans that are not yet paying customers.
Landing Tabs
Landing Tabs are actually more important now on Facebook than ever before.
A Landing Tab is commonly known as a Squeeze Page in the online marketing world.
So, the flow of a Landing tab is to utilize the power of Facebook to generate the targeted leads. It should attract the prospective customers to your page and your tab and then, encourage them to leave you their name and email address so that you can market to them via email.
In order to get more customers for our business, we need to generate leads. We need to have a steady stream of people interested in our products and services that we can connect with, engage with and sell to! Learn how to use Landing Tabs and Facebook business pages.
Part 2 — About the Long Term
Part 2 is about what happens after you’ve generated all your fantastic new leads. It’s all about communication, engagement, leading warm prospects to take more action with you and building your reputation, your profile and your community on Facebook by using pages, groups and your profile. All of these are explained in detail in this ebook.
There is also a video course to accompany this ebook.

Blogging For Your Home Business
Copyright © Rahimah Sultan
Set a Routine
Set a schedule and stick to it. Decide what days you’re going to publish articles for your home business and get them out on those days. If you’re new to blogging and unable to write articles daily, then do it two or three times a week. Regular posting can enable you to move up in search engine ranking, and it keeps you in front of your audience.
If blogging is only one aspect of your home business, and you’re not in a position to outsource work, you may not have the time to post articles several times a week. In that case, there are many sources for published articles that allow you to republish, as long as you keep the article intact and the author’s resource box.
Blogging Tips
by Rahimah Sultan

Are you having trouble with blogging? Are you at a loss for article subjects?
Here are a few blogging tips.
There are subjects all around you. Just be aware of your surroundings.
You can use newspaper headlines, people watching (what you’ve observed someone doing or making, etc.) or what someone did at the grocery or department store.
You can also research information online. It’s your blog.
You can talk about whatever you wish. If you have a niche-specific blog you probably want to make the article relative to that niche.
While making the article relative to your niche you can use analogies.
For example, you observed someone buying flowers. You can tell a story about the type and color, how carefully they were handled and discuss the customer service.
Then if your niche is internet marketing, you can relate this to products for your customers and your follow up customer service.
Once you think of a topic make an outline just like you did for school papers.
The outline should include:
A Title
An Introduction
Some Key Points
A Conclusion
A Resource box
Here is a very basic outline.
Title
The title should be in bold type and it should be engaging. It should set the tone for the entire article.
Introduction
An introduction is self explanatory. In this article, all of the above is the introduction beginning with the question “Are you having trouble with blogging?”
Headings
Your key points become your headings. I suggest an absolute minimum of three key points. They should also be in bold type.
Conclusion
Your conclusion is a summary of your article and anything else you wish to state that is directly related to your topic.
Resource Box
You can also include a resource box with your picture, a bit of information about yourself, and a link to your site or products.
In summary, you now have a template that you can use for every blog post. You can save it in outline form and use it over and over.
It contains a title, introduction, several key points related to your subject, and a conclusion.
Now you can get busy using this template of blogging tips to make your writing easier.
Junk food may increase the risk of depression
by Rahimah Sultan
A link between mental health and various nutrients in the diet, such as omega-3 fatty acids and B vitamins, has been well established. But there is little to no research on the role of fast-food or processed pastries and mental health.
Published in the journal Public Health Nutrition, researchers in Spain recently assessed the relationship between eating fast food or processed pastries and developing clinical depression.
In total, 8,964 participants were included in the study, and were followed up for an average of 6.2 years. This prospective cohort study included people who did not have a clinical diagnosis of depression and who were not taking antidepressant medication All participants were also free of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension.
The participants completed the food frequency questionnaire at the beginning of the study. The scientists looked at two variables: fast food consumption (which included hamburgers, sausages and pizza) and consumption of commercial baked goods (which included muffins, doughnuts, croissants and other baked goods). The researchers then divided the study population into five groups (quintiles), based on the amount of each food group that they usually consumed.
The researchers collected data on other variables they thought might influence the relationship between eating habits and depression. These included age, sex, BMI, smoking status, physical activity level, total energy intake and healthy food consumption. Adjustments were then made for the influence of these variables during the statistical analysis.
People with the highest level of consumption of fast-food and commercial baked goods had a 37% increased risk of developing depression compared to the lowest consumption group.
Although it cannot conclusively show that eating lots of hamburgers, sausages and pizza causes depression, this study suggests that there may be an association between eating a lot of fast food or baked goods and developing depression.

Make Money with Writing, Blogging, and eBay
by Rahimah Sultan
I’m going to show you three quick and dirty ways to make income online, by working as much or as little as you want, from anywhere in the world, whenever you choose. You can make money with writing, blogging, and eBay and other ways, although the focus today is these three.
Freelance Writing
Online freelance writing jobs are plentiful, if you know where to look and can distinguish the legitimate opportunities from the potential scams.
Most people don’t have a clue about the wide variety of writing opportunities available to them all over the Internet. These include writing simple articles, press releases, and even complete e-books.
Some clients pay upfront for your material, offering a certain amount per word or per assignment. Others will pay you per the hour for other writing and publishing related tasks such as proof-reading and editing web content.
Freelance writing networks such as “The Freelance Writing Jobs Network” are a great place to start looking for writing jobs and advice. And then there are what I call “freelance matchmaking” sites or “job boards” like Elance.com and Freelancer.com.
On these sites, almost every day, thousands of businesses post various types of writing projects, gigs and requests. If you get aggressive in applying for these open spots, then there’s a virtually unlimited supply of writing opportunities that can make you money relatively quickly.
When starting, reply to as many project requests as possible, offer to work at a reasonable rate (but not dirt cheap), and be quick and responsive.
Landing that first gig is always the hardest step, but once you’ve built up a portfolio and some clientele, you’ll get more and more consistent work.
The key to making money with freelance writing is to quickly produce as many quality pieces as you can for your portfolio, and then use job boards and social networking strategies to promote your writing. The more traffic you get to your online work, the more companies you’ll have approaching you to write for them.
Here are some additional tips when setting up your portfolio:
1. Set up a professional web page with your resume, contact information, and some writing samples.
2. Establish yourself as a reputable, talented freelance writer by submitting only your best quality work to potential clients.
3. Network with other busy writers who may be able to send extra work your way. Participate in writers forums by writing useful comments and including links to your website and online work.
Making Money with eBay
If writing is not your thing, then hop on over to ebay.com and you can start selling almost anything you can imagine within just minutes.
Imagine having access to 100 million cash-spending buyers. That’s exactly the kind of gold mine that’s waiting for you on eBay. It has over 100 million registered users, all of whom are out there shopping for great deals.
To become a successful eBay seller, first you must first figure out what to sell. You can sell your own items, check out trade shows in your local area, or search online directories like Doba.com and Alibaba.com to find hot products.
Here’s how to get the most out of your eBay listings and auctions:
1. Create good titles and descriptions, and include quality photos of the items. Write descriptions that stand out, but do not make them obnoxious by using all capital letters or excessive punctuation. Also, be honest about any defects in the items you have for sale.
2. Consider starting your own eBay store for selling large quantities, since they have a longer run time than typical auctions. Participate in the eBay community and read the forums to stay involved.
3. Other ways to get traffic to your auctions and items for sale include creating a page on eBay and linking to your auctions from other sites. You also could register a domain name dedicated solely to promoting your own auctions.
Once you find a hot product, keep selling it, and then gradually find more and more products you can promote. Over time, your income will grow exponentially.
Make Money with Your Own Blog
Blogging is another easy way to make money online. The secret to profitable blogging is to focus on a particular that is, your area of expertise or a very specific subject that is popular in the search engines.
Here’s how to get started blogging:
1. Like freelance writing, you should approach blogging with the intent to write unique, quality content. Offering useful information and establishing yourself as a trustworthy resource to your readers will quickly lead to lots of word-of-mouth traffic to your blog. Readers can tell if you do not know what you are talking about, so do your research and focus on producing quality content.
2. Starting a blog is as simple as getting a free account at WordPress.com, Blogger.com, or another blog hosting site. You can also pay for a domain name and hosting services if you want to personalize your blog even more. I suggest you start with the free options.
3. Once you have established your blog, then you can focus on monetizing it by incorporating relevant ads through advertising networks like Google AdSense or Chitika. Affiliate programs such as Amazon also are becoming increasingly popular ways to earn extra revenue. In addition, you could sell private ads or review products on your blog.
4. Promote your blog by utilizing social networking opportunities such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and blogging forums. If you’re creative, then you’ll find endless opportunities to promote your blog throughout these social communities.
So, that’s how to make money with writing, blogging, and eBay. Freelance writing, selling on eBay, and blogging are only three of the many ways to make money online. They might require an initial investment of time and effort, but you are likely to see some quick income and even huge profits in the long run if you follow these hints.
Now you can make money with writing, blogging, and eBay using this new, Internet revolution that’s helping people like you to start their own dream business, create absolute financial freedom, and escape the rat race for good, faster than they ever thought possible.
