If you already have an online business that is making money, you know the basics of Internet marketing and growing your business. There are still many people who are unsure about launching a business on the internet and what to expect, and many have a website without any real online presence.

Why do you need an online presence?

There are many ways of making money online, but if you have your own product or service, you need to advertise so people know you exist.

In order to grow your business online, you need a steady flow of targeted customers and prospects visiting your website and sales pages just as you do with a brick-and-mortar business.

There are many sources for free and paid advertising that include:

Social media
Search engine and directory listings
Marketing offline
Content marketing
Blogging
Google My Business on Google
Google Adwords
Email marketing

Paid ads can become really costly very quickly so you have to watch them very closely, especially if you’re just starting out unless you have an unlimited budget.

What else is necessary to grow your business?

In order to grow your business you need:

1. Targeted traffic

Targeted traffic is a visitor that falls within the niche of your website. For example, if your website is about athletic wear and someone lands on one of your articles after doing a search for “best athletic wear for women”, that visitor is targeted. Targeted visitors are people who are genuinely interested in your products or services.

You can buy traffic, use free sources, or both. Paid traffic includes pay-per-click, solo ads, ezine advertising, and banner advertisements.

2. Product or service

Included in these internet marketing tips for home business, of course, is something to sell. This can be an actual physical product that is shipped to buyers or a digital product that can be instantly downloaded to their computers.

If you don’t have your own product, you can find good ones to sell as an affiliate marketer. Click bank, JV Zoo, and Deal Guardian are a few to check out. Just make sure they are good products that solve problems for people. This is especially important for your prospective buyers. You want them to trust you and your recommendations.

3. Marketing funnel (sales funnel)

A Sales Funnel for your Online Marketing

You must use effective advertising. This includes a lead capture page (LCP) with a lead magnet (a freebie or a discount you offer in exchange for names and email addresses) for visitors to fill in to get more information about your products/services. When they fill in the form they’ll be directed to a link to get what you’ve promised.

Now they’re on a list you’ve set up at your hosting company so you can follow up with them and establish a relationship in order for them to get to know, like, and trust you. This process of advertising, using an LCP, and a follow-up system is your sales funnel.

You need a follow-up strategy for people who do not buy from you the first time they visit your site. A marketing funnel serves that purpose by capturing visitors’ information and adding them to a list of prospects to be contacted at a later date. They may like what you’re offering but need more time to get to know and trust you before buying. Once you have a prospect’s information you can remind them of your products and services in a number of ways that include email marketing, online webinars, and social media.

So, using these internet marketing tips for home business to start or grow your business, you’ll be able to establish your online presence to let people know you exist, get targeted traffic to your website to grow your business, advertise your product/service, and follow up with your prospects.

9 Email Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

Advertising Disclosure: Marketing Success Review may be compensated in exchange for featured placement of certain sponsored products and services, or your clicking on links posted on this website. There is no expense to you.

Email marketing is an integral part of everyday business. Having a solid game plan when you send out an email to your subscribers is the first step to seeing a higher conversion rate.

Sometimes, even if you follow every email marketing tip there is, you have no guarantee of total success. There is always room for error. Here are nine email marketing mistakes to avoid.

1) Sending Out Poorly-Focused Content

Do not send the same email to all your subscribers. Everyone on your email list is interested in the same content. Segment your audience. Do this by having different opt-in forms that offer different information and freebies.

If you have a blog you can place an opt-in form in different areas for your visitors. For instance, your blog’s main focus may be Internet marketing which includes different sub-topics like home-based business, affiliate marketing, marketing information, etc.

Place a relevant opt-in form offering a freebie in each of these categories. When people opt in, they’ll be added to a particular categorized list. As the site owner, you can then send relevant information to this list of subscribers instead of inundating them with irrelevant emails.

2) One-Way Conversations

You want your readers to get to know, like and trust you. Make sure they have a way to connect and interact with you. Your email should be personable and identify you and your company.

At the end of your emails, initiate a two-way conversation by asking your readers if there is something in particular you can help them with, and include a link to your social profiles.

3) Lots of Offers and no Information

When someone subscribes to an opt-in form, they want useful information and not a bombardment of sales and promotional emails. There’s nothing wrong with promoting your products and services in an email. Just be sure to include useful content.

This can be an informative video, a link to a useful blog post or a great infographic. At the end of the email, you can mention any promotions you have and always add value by actually giving away something for free. Constantly promoting your products and services without giving away anything of value for free will only annoy your subscribers and push them to unsubscribe.

4) Unclear Call to Action

To ensure people see your CTA (call to action) for your awesome freebie or discounted product you need to be sure the CTA is clear. Send out an email to your loyal subscribers to let them know about your offer and include a link.

If that link is hidden in a small piece of anchor text, some of your subscribers will have a hard time finding it. Boldly highlight the link, add bright buttons or ask people to click on a picture to get to your landing page. A few considerations are:

1. Make what you need very clear by including words like ‘Head here’ or ‘Click here.’
2. Very clearly highlight the text that leads to the landing page.
3. Repeatedly mention the CTA throughout their email.

5) Belabored Subject Line

Get to the point! Although you want to make the subject line interesting, if your subscribers can’t figure out what your email is about, they become annoyed. A few tips:

1. Keep it short

Make sure your subject line fits in the subscribers’ view screen. There’s no point in having an awesome subject line if they can’t read half of it.

2. When possible use numbers

Examples:

Join 475 people who signed up for my free online course today!
Happy Valentine’s Day! 50% off all our products.
Here is why 85% of small businesses rely on email as their primary acquisition source.

3. Be personal

Use the name of your subscribers in the subject line.

Hi (first name)! Want access to my free new course?

4. Tell your audience what’s inside (be truthful)

Make your subject line descriptive and honest. It should immediately help your readers figure out what is inside the email.

6) A Welcome Email

Sending a welcome email to your subscribers is fine. Just don’t make it a generic one. Make it informative and useful. Include a great freebie or a link to resources that are only for your subscribers. Make a good first impression by saying something other than just ‘hello.’

7) Attention to Data

If you’re not paying attention to data you could end up with an enormous amount of information each time you email subscribers. This includes the open rate, the time of day when most people opened your email, which links they clicked on, etc.

This data can help you improve upcoming email campaigns you’re working on. You can figure out what’s working, what content your audience likes, and what to get rid of permanently.

Optimizing your email marketing campaigns requires four clear factors:

Personalized emails
Clear headers to optimize email marketing open rates
Clear CTA to optimize email marketing click rates
Updated email list

8) Quantity Over Quality

Focus on the quality of your subscribers rather than how many. Every so often you need to clean your email lists.

Remove those people who are not opening your emails. In the long run, you want only an engaged list of subscribers. Most email marketing services have a ‘Clean Up Inactive’ feature that makes this process very simple.

Doing this will reduce your monthly outgoing cost. You may be paying for a plan that is dependent on the number of subscribers you have.

9) Sending Emails at the Wrong Time

Many studies say the best time to send emails is in the late morning during work hours, at around 10-11a.m. If you send emails when no one checks them, your campaign will probably fail.

Use the tips in these nine email marketing mistakes to avoid to help you build a large list, and create relationships with your subscribers by focusing on a good email marketing strategy.

Blog Article Marketing

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

Blog article marketing is useful for your online business. It’s a cost-effective way to drive traffic to your website or blog, a way to get your website indexed on search engines, a way for web promotion and backlinks, and it’s a vehicle for obtaining potential customers.

Cost

You can showcase your business, products and/or services for free or you can use paid advertising or both. When you write about what you’re offering, you can place a link in the article that redirects wherever you wish – another article or website.

Traffic

Write quality, keyword-rich, informative articles to pull in more online consumers and Internet users to view your site.

Website Indexing

When you use keyword-rich articles with proper SEO your site can be found by search engines which in turn allows more people to find you and your information.

Promotion and Backlinks

In your article writing, the links you include can give you more exposure and get more people viewing your site. Good quality articles are important for gaining more readers.

When writing a new article, link to one of your other articles. Using one article to promote another will increase reader interest.

Obtaining Customers

Blog article marketing is an effective way to convert readers into potential customers and boost online business.

Aim for writing a minimum of one article a week. Creating content regularly will also enable you to produce content more efficiently in the future. Use your articles to offer knowledge to your readers. People are always looking for free advice. Use your own voice when writing. Don’t try to sound like an expert, unless you are.

An article is a full-text document that is used for communicating information and creating awareness about your product or service. It has become the successful way to drive more traffic to your website.

If you own a business or home business and want to spread the word about it, blogging can be a method of doing so and a way of branding yourself. You can write articles about your products or services and post them on your blog with a link to those products or services.

Use blog article marketing to keep down advertising costs, pull in more online consumers and Internet users to view your site, for website indexing on search engines, for promotion and backlinks, and for obtaining customers for your products or services.

Writing New Content Easily

by Rahimah Sultan
photo from blog

Your content marketing strategy must begin with articles as the base. You can put them on your blog or publish them in article directories. It’s preferable to place them on your blog. Whichever you choose, you need to first create them. You can use the following as a guide to writing new content easily.

Generally, people will start with an introduction, list a few points, and write a conclusion. But that presents a problem if you’re stuck. So start with the end, the conclusion. What is it you want people to do as a result of having reviewed your content?

You include a call to action (CTA), but you must ask yourself why anyone would want to take action in the first place. If you don’t have a good answer then the chances that anyone else will are next to nil.

You have to start with the end in mind. Give people a reason for wanting to see what you have to offer. Tell them what it can do to help them solve a problem. Discuss some key points that lead to a logical conclusion.

You want to peak their interest so they’ll follow through and click on that link which leads to a free gift for joining your newsletter or sends them to a blog article that can help with something they’re struggling with or whatever you’re wanting them to take action on.

First, make an outline using your key selling points. This outline is simply a few key things jotted down for your benefit. List the main point and write a couple of lines about it, then go to the next important point and do the same. Use three or four key ideas.

Your outline should look something like this:

The problem – Don’t know how to…

My widget solves that problem by…
a)
b)
My widget solves the problem (how?)
a)
b)

Click here (CTA link) to check out the widget

You’re working backward, in no particular order, and listing the main points. Be sure that each bullet point and subtext leads logically to the next thing, and that in turn leads the reader to take some sort of action.

What would the reader need to feel in order to click on your link? Your conclusion needs to make people feel obligated to do what you say to get what they want.

When you finish discussing your points or ideas, the conclusion should make perfect sense.

Writing new content easily can be simpler than you think when you follow this approach of starting with the end in mind and logically laying out your key points to lead people to where you want them to go, i.e., your CTA.

3 Basic Internet Marketing Tips

by Rahimah Sultan

The internet is a massive marketplace with all kinds of people – buyers, sellers, marketers, specialists, etc. Your business has unlimited potential to grow when it targets the internet as its market. If you’re a business owner with a website, you’ll want to use Internet marketing. If you don’t, your website is almost useless. Here are three basic Internet marketing tips to keep in mind.

Be sure you have a blog

Blog marketing will greatly boost your connection with potential customers. It will give you the ability to get feedback about your company, products and/or services and communicate with them through the comments section.

If you’re just thinking about setting up a blog, you need to determine exactly why you want to blog and write down your goals. Next on the list should be a step by step guideline that will accomplish those goals.

Then you should learn everything you can from experienced bloggers and determine your own path. Copying others never works. Just use them as examples.

With a static website there are minimal updates, not much new information, and not much customer interaction. A blog makes your website more reader friendly, and Google friendly. Google loves new information. When you post new articles regularly you will get picked up by search engines, of which Google is the most popular.

Make sure your website looks the way your target audience expects

Don’t waste time or money on conceptualizing what your site should look like. Just try and get ideas from successful ones who are in the same market and business as you. Learn from them, and create your own familiar design.

A wisely designed website is the way to go. It doesn’t have to be fancy and perfect. It just has to appeal to your target market’s taste. For example, if your website is about targeting prospects for your jewelry business, make sure it reflects such.

Don’t stop with a website

Many business owners think that once a website is set up, it will run on its own and function properly as it’s supposed to. Setting up your website is only step one – the foundation. After you’ve created and established an online presence, you have to make sure to follow up with other online business needs, which include your blog, search engine optimization (SEO), and social network integration.

In today’s ever-changing online marketplace it’s not enough to just have a website. Your business requires marketing strategies the same as an offline business. For marketing success you must engage in effective promotion.

Whether you’re an established business online or off, or you’re working from home on your own, Internet marketing requires investment of time, energy, and money. There is no free ride. So, make sure you’re visible in the online marketplace to ensure you have a chance at success.

In summary, be sure you have a blog, make sure your website meets your prospects expectations, and don’t stop with just a website. These three basic internet marketing tips are a starting point.

Autoresponders in Internet Business

by Rahimah Sultan

So, you’ve been browsing and Googling and seeing all the promotions on the Internet for starting your own home business and the tools that are needed to do so. Then there are suggestions for platforms for setting up your business online. There is an abundance of information and courses offering training, and there are Ads promoting ways to get your information out to the public, and how to build lists using autoresponders, and on and on.

You probably already have a general idea of how to do business online. If not, and you’re a beginner, you may have a business idea or you may already have an offline business and may be wondering how to bring it online.

So where do you start if you have an entrepreneurial spirit and want to do business online?

Set up a place online to do business

First, you have to have a place online to do business, and that means establishing an online presence. You have to buy a domain name, which represents you and your company or home business, and set up your website with a hosting company. Your website is your “place of business.” You’ll place a sign-up form on your site to attract new prospects.

Use an autoresponder

The form you place on your website needs to be connected to an autoresponder so you can collect names and emails of prospects. You stay in contact with these signups through messages that go out via this autoresponder.

Autoresponders are used by individuals and also by Web sites that need to respond to user comments automatically. Businesses use them to inform an email sender that someone is out of the office and the date of return; a company may use an autoresponder for newsletter subscription opt-ins or cancellations. An autoresponder is used by businesses to confirm purchases and pertinent information regarding that buy. Email marketing, using autoresponders, has been identified as one of the most profitable modern marketing techniques.

You need to nurture your leads so they stay connected and gain confidence and trust in you.

Set up an email series

The most efficient and cost effective way to educate your new subscribers is to take them through a series of especially designed emails that take them from point A to point B in a sequential order. This series gives them the opportunity to get to know what you have to offer and how you can help them.

Set up a series of emails to go out at predetermined times. For instance, your first message will probably be a thank you for signing up or subscribing that includes a link to a freebie to be downloaded immediately. The balance of the series will be related to your product or service.

Every time you create an autoresponder series, it should take a subscriber from being a lead to a prospect to a customer. With an autoresponder series each new subscriber will get the same experience your first one did, if that’s what you want.

The strategy for your email series is determined by the type of product or service you offer. The number of messages can be seven – one a day or 30 or more. You can send one on the first seven days and then add others spaced at longer intervals. You decide what’s best for you and your business.

If your site is a blog, you can populate it with content that shows people how to use your services or how to solve particular problems. Then you can send a broadcast to your list with the link to your blog article. You may only want to set up a few messages in your autoresponder and then send broadcasts to your list. The choice is yours. You need to:

Focus on the reader’s desires and needs. What problems are your subscribers experiencing?

Use a real email address that people can reply to which can be your name or business name.

Personalize your emails and include a salutation. Make it sound like an email, not a press release.

Highlight the benefits you’re offering.

Use attention-grabbing headlines.

Make the email easy to read.
Proof read your emails. Use correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Use a call to action stating what you want the reader to do.

When you get a response to an email, always reply.

Never send an email if a person hasn’t given you permission to do so and do not share a person’s information with anyone. Do not go overboard with affiliate offers and promotions.

In summary, set up a place online to do business, use an autoresponder, and set up an email series. Using these tips on Autoresponders in Internet Business should be helpful.
