Affiliate Marketing: Merchant or Affiliate

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s (or company’s) products. Just find a product you like, promote it to others and earn a part of the profit for each sale that you make.

An affiliate, also known as the publisher, can be a single individual or a company.

There are two ways to get started with affiliate marketing. You can become a merchant or an affiliate.

Although it’s not easy, you can become an affiliate program merchant and then make money by having affiliates sell your products. Following are the 4 steps to take.

1) You need a product idea.

Look at what products and services are already available and think about how you can make them better by having something that solves the problems with those products.

2) Find out if people want it.

Present your idea to people and ask them if they like it and will pay for it.

3) Create the product.

It can be online courses, ebooks or podcasts/videos.

4) Find affiliate program partners.

You have to find affiliates to promote your products (affiliate networks can help) who actually have an audience that is interested in what you have to sell. Clickbank and Amazon are examples of networks.

There are also 4 steps to take to become an online affiliate marketer.

1) Review products in your niche.

You can start by looking at the partners in step 4 for becoming a merchant.

2) Build an email list with your prospects on it.

3) Educate your audience.

You can use live webinars, blog posts and social media.

4) Grow your business with PPC advertising.

This is an overview of the specifics of affiliate marketing.

Internet Sales Funnel

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

The concept of the sales funnel begins at the very start of a marketing phase where you are trying to capture the interest of as many visitors and prospective customers as you can. Some techniques used for this are:

**Writing good and targeted content and articles on your blog

**Building a list using email signups through your blog by offering free gifts

**Using social networks to signup people in order to be able to broadcast your special offers or latest blog post

**Using a landing page and/or sales pages with a call to action (signup, buy, etc) and many more.

Before even considering the construction of your Internet Sales Funnel, you will need a product or service to offer to sell to your visitors.

These can be physical products, your own digital creations such as eBooks, videos or software and also things such as membership programs or consultation services. If you don’t have your own product you can use affiliate programs such as Clickbank, Amazon or affiliate programs available that you can use in conjunction with blogging from your website.

It is very important that before choosing a product to sell that you try to identify a niche which people are demanding and then supply this need to them.

An Internet Sales Funnel is really a marketing framework which represents all of the stages from your initial leads to actual sales.

Ezine writer Kate Franklin states, “Basically a sales funnel is a way of funneling prospects into your business and building trust.”  Click here to read her article.

Today’s article covers modules three and four.

Module 03: Paid List Building Methods

If you have money in your budget for advertising, you can purchase traffic to help build a subscribership to your list.

PPC (pay-per-click) is one of the most popular and effective ways to buy traffic for your list. You can also use Facebook ad campaigns, with which you can target ads to certain populations or niches. To avoid overspending, you MUST monitor your paid campaigns at all times. Other paid sources include ezines, newsletters, Coreg Leads and more.

Always use some sort of lead capture page (a squeeze page) when advertising your products or services.

If you are new to online business, do use the free traffic getting methods to see how things work before turning to the paid methods.

6 Advertising Tips

by Rahimah Sultan

There are many options available for advertising your business. Six advertising tips are listed here that could be the best way to reach larger audiences within a short period of time for the least amount of money.

Create a website

You can create a website and then place a link to it on other sources that accept ads.

You can optimize your pages and submit them to search engines. Some take money for placing an ad or link on their website, some take money only if a visitor clicks on the link or website and some take money only if the visitor visits a link and buys a product or service. There are many options available for the type of ad to be placed. These include pop-up ads, banner ads, wallpaper ads, video ads, etc. A low-budget option is sending emails to targeted customers.

Presentations of your products

Another way to advertise is giving presentations for your products. Brochures and business cards can be inserted into the business presentation package. Be sure to have accurately designed business cards that include all the vital information about the business like the name of the company, location, services provided, hours, phone number, cell number and contact person. Personalized business cards are a good way to reach customers.

Distribute newsletters with information about your latest offers and discounts. Informational letters of a page length and e-mails can also be sent on a regular basis.

All of this can be accomplished a lot easier by contacting companies who can provide the mailing list of a particular locality, for a small price. You can check the yellow pages for such companies. After getting the information get in touch with the company to get a copy of the latest mailing list. The fees differ from company to company.

Yellow pages

All businesses both large and small place ads in the yellow pages and have benefited. When you place the ad you should include your contact information and products and services.

Radio and TV stations

Radio and TV stations offer better prices during non-peak times, especially after midnight. Check with your local stations for pricing, time slots and discounts.

Newspapers

One can always use newspapers for advertising. First decide on your target audience – age group, sex, and location. Then choose the local newspaper and section where the ad will be placed depending on the audience to be targeted. The classified section of newspapers has special offers. Check the details of the pricing structure for the size of the advertisements, number of words, font size, etc.

Word of mouth

Last but not least, there’s always word of mouth. You can grow your network by joining organizations that deal with advertising like trade associations and chambers of commerce. Active participation in events of these organizations eventually helps you to reach a larger number of prospective clients.

Start using these 6 advertising tips in your business today.

A Mile To The Library For Real Books

by Rahimah Sultan

photo from blog

While taking few minutes break and ruminating on what to write about today, a nice summer breeze came through my window. Since I was trying to decide on a subject, my mind went back to my earlier years and my love of reading. There’s a break in the heat wave we’ve been having here and the temperature is about 75 degrees F, which reminded me of walking a mile to the library in Ohio when I was young and returning in time to sit in the porch swing and read before dark.

Remember when we were young and it was fun to read an actual physical book? Well, maybe reading was not a lot of people’s idea of fun, but it was for me. I used to try to figure out  how to get more reading time, especially in elementary and junior high school (now known as middle school) with all the homework.

Books

I really looked forward to summer when school was out and I could walk that mile to the library and return home with at least four books that I had a month to read. In junior high it was pretty much the same scenario.

I remember a couple of my teachers (probably English) giving the class a reading list of classics to be read. I think it was given out a couple of times. I still have mine in a folder with an ongoing list of authors and titles I’ve wanted to read over the years.

As the saying goes, time really flies. I didn’t get to War and Peace until I was an adult and had returned to school when my children were teenagers. As anyone who has read it knows, it’s terribly long and is tedious reading with the philosophical interjections of Tolstoy. It took me three weeks to read it, including weekends. Since then I’ve read Anna Karenina at least three times, and I have the actual book. I love historical Russian novels.

Tablet and Ebook Technology

Anyway, the point of this prattle is new-fangled technology. I love having actual copies of books in my hands when reading. There’s something really comforting about curling up with a good book, and feeling and turning the pages as you read.

I have nothing against the advancement in technology. It’s great, since time seems to be scampering along so quickly and everyone needs to squeeze so much into each day. Having a tablet or ebook allows for reading on the go. I suppose they’re also convenient for students.

Advertising

Although walking a mile to the library for real books was fun, there are now alternatives. These days, working from home online doesn’t allow me much reading time, no matter the form. So, I must say that ebooks and tablets allow people who access the Internet to see and buy products. Any business needs advertising, and that advertising needs to be available on the technology that people are using.
